Scientist, Molecular Biology Location: Redmond (Seattle), WA
Reporting to: Project Lead Role Description: We are seeking a
versatile Research Scientist with strong background in the areas of
molecular biology product development focusing on synthetic
biology. This Research Scientist will play multiple roles within
the R&D group and work within a small team responsible for
development of cutting-edge molecular biology products and
technologies with an emphasis on building gene and DNA libraries
using semiconductor powered synthetic DNA. Key Responsibilities:
Design of molecular biology products and services with GenScript’s
proprietary semiconductor based high-throughput DNA synthesis
platform Innovate for the next generation gene synthesis technology
with simplified process, enhanced quality and safety profile.
Develop new products to expand service capability and scope,
including but not limit to gene and library assembly technologies,
and cell free DNA amplification and synthesis technologies.
Participate in molecular biology and synthetic biology application
development, e.g., reagents, gene synthesis, vector
design/construction, expression, protein engineering, microbe
strain engineering, etc. Assembly of gene fragment library with
chip-based oligo pools. Quality assay development for synthetic DNA
libraries Perform statistical data analysis and present the
results. Write and review technical documents including SOPs,
product analysis report, presentations, patents. Tech transfer for
research project’s translation, collaborate with manufacturing team
and quality team to ensure a successful product launch and
continuous process improvement Support day-to-day operations,
problem-solving and troubleshooting for production team.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s (BSc) or Master’s (MSc) degree in
Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Synthetic
Biology, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with a BSc
must have at least 3 years of hands-on molecular biology experience
in related industries. Demonstrated track record in gene synthesis,
DNA assembly, library construction or synthetic biology.
Proficiency in molecular biology laboratory techniques, including:
multiplex PCR, dPCR/qPCR, primer/probe/vector design, enzymatic
reactions, and molecular cloning. Experience in the design and
construction of genes, pathways, expression vectors. Preferred
experiences: next generation sequencing (NGS) is preferred; and
familiarity with laboratory automation systems and workflows.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within dynamic,
fast-paced, and cross-functional matrix teams. Strong documentation
skills, including preparation of data summaries, technical and
scientific reports, and the ability to transfer procedures to
manufacturing teams. Self-motivated, passionate about scientific
discovery, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team

Compensation: Salary range: $70,000 – $85,000, depending on
