Direct responsibility for completing assigned work in a safe and efficient manner and for the general condition of trucks, special equipment and tools. JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position. Secondary functions (SF) are activities not fundamental to the job and may need to be relaxed to accommodate an otherwise qualified applicant with a disability. In the aggregate, secondary functions typically account for less than 15% of the job scope. # EF/SF % of Time Job Functions EF 85% Must efficiently construct all phases of overhead and underground line work according to District line construction standards and practices; must know and understand District operating instructions. EF 10% Understand WAC 45 and OSHA 1910.269 rules and be responsible for tools and equipment needed to install and maintain the District's electrical system. This responsibility may include purchasing and inventory of new equipment, tools, and learning new technology. EF 5% Once qualified will be required to fill-in as Temporary Foreman or Serviceman on an as-needed basis. EF Ongoing Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Post-Secondary Education: Must have completed a JATC or NJATC lineman apprenticeship or a three (3) or four (4) year accredited lineman apprenticeship. Must provide written documentation of related training experience with at least one thousand (1,000) documented hours of working a conductor energized at primary voltage. Acceptable documentation includes copies of apprenticeship certificates, college transcripts or journey-level lineman card equal to NJATC requirements.. Experience: Must have experience in line construction and maintenance, and be proficient in using tools and operating heavy equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems. Must have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as pertains to utility systems. Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge: Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of and comply with District safety procedures in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies, practices and procedures. Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and the methods, equipment and materials used in line construction and maintenance. Skills & Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with others. Must possess or obtain within three months from hire date, flagging certification, First Aid and CPR certification cards. Must maintain Forklift Certification for Forklift class 4&5 and Lift Code 3&4. Ability to climb poles and towers. SAFETY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION: Safety sensitive positions are subject to pre-employment drug testing. Positions are designated as "safety sensitive" if an essential function of the job involves certain duties. This position is designated as safety sensitive for the following reasons: Drives or operates motorized vehicles Works with or near rotating or heavy equipment, power machines or tools Works on or near high voltage distribution or transmission lines or equipment Duties directly affect public/employee safety A valid driver's license is required at hire. A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment. Must possess, and maintain a valid Washington State, Class A Commercial Driver's License with current medical card and air brake restriction removed.
