The Boeing Company is seeking a Principal Observability Architect
based out of Seattle, Washington.
Boeing is on a mission to revolutionize software from seabed to
space. At Boeing we solve the problems that matter to protect,
connect, and explore our world and beyond. The team is building a
world class observability platform focused on improving the
stability, performance, and efficiency for hundreds of our
Kubernetes based software factories spanning on-prem and
multi-cloud. (Gathering and analyzing all the data from
infrastructure, Kubernetes platform, and the applications deployed
as part of the SW factory.)
This is a greenfield development opportunity where you will be
responsible for building/growing the team and bringing the best of
breed technical choices to bear. This leader will develop team,
portfolio, business unit, and global hub and spoke observability
platforms.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads development of solutions to unprecedented and complex
architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for
software systems.
Directs development of verification test plans and procedures.
Explores the enterprise and industry for state of the art methods,
tools and processes applicable to software evaluation and test.
Leads integration of new tools, processes, etc to improve
productivity.
Resolves complex embedded software and software verifications
issues that span functional domains, programs and business
units.
Advises management on a wide range of high leverage embedded
software and software verifications issues.
Implement Artificial Intelligence-Ops, using Artificial
Intelligence to improve DevOps capabilities
Works independently
Develop observability dashboards for use by:
Programs to monitor their individual Software factory
Enterprise level security personnel to monitor hundreds of
different Software factories
Senior leaders to monitor the Software factories used within their
portfolios
We are looking for individuals to help us take our Observability
game to the next level.
Build the platform
Discover trends via data analytics
Streaming data analysis
Apply Machine Learning (ML)
Cyber security controls & Data protection
Implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
Continuous fixes and improvements via automation
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be
required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location
options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security
Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an
accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science,
mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience maintaining operational readiness of large scale
systems
Experience with Docker / Kubernetes
Experience programming with either (Go, Java, C/C++, Rust, or
Python)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience developing Observability products
Machine Learning experience
Experience with Apache Spark/Flink
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical
education from an accredited course of study in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related
work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred,
although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
