Job Description:

Duties * You will provide routine and emergency environmental services to support compliance, manage waste and protect environmental resources at the installation. * You will ensure hazardous waste disposal documents, laboratory, and waste profile documents are properly prepared and distributed in a timely manner. * You will represent management on labor issues and work with Unions to improve an understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures. * You will provide supervision and management of the environmental contract surveillance programs on administrative and operational requirements of Hazardous Waster, Hazardous Materials, Spill Prevention, and Spill Response programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment. * Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. * New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Conducting evaluations of environmental compliance inspections and evaluations of environmental quality programs; 2) identifying non-complying hazardous waste procedures using environmental regulations and requirements and controls; 3) evaluating environmental consequences of actions, operations, tests, etc., in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA); 4) preparing performance plans and formal performance appraisals for subordinate employees; 5) Communicating both orally and in writing. ***NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.
