The PD Flight Demonstrators team is posting for a Level 4 / Level 5 Systems Engineer located in Everett, Washington, supporting the PD Flight Demonstrators team. In this role, you'll be creating the future of flight by leading the design, build and integration efforts for one or more flight demonstrators, working with technologists to get emerging technologies ready to fly, supporting test conduct, and working with technologists, testers, managers, executives, airlines and government stakeholders to make sure all interests are supported through our program. Our PD Flight Demonstrators portfolio includes the ecoDemonstrator Program and other exciting technology flight demonstrator airplanes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the planning and execution of the PD Flight Demonstrators Programs
  • Lead the identification, selection and integration of technologies onto Flight Test airplanes
  • Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate, coordinate, implement and deliver innovative technologies
  • Ensure all technologies and test platforms meet operational, functional and safe-to-fly requirements to support accelerated technology maturation and program objectives
  • Lead our gated process reviews and design reviews
  • Lead safe-to-fly planning and execution
  • Participate in STEM and industry outreach
  • Partner with airlines, suppliers and government representatives
  • Provide program integration management support to ensure robustness and speedy delivery of novel technology. Lead the resolution of cross functional technical issues. This position is 100% onsite.

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • BS Engineering
    • Experience leading system-level safety or quality initiatives
    • Previous experience solving sophisticated, multiple-domain technical problems working with cross functional teams
    • Experience assessing the technical maturity of hardware, software and its integration
    • Experience as leader of cross functional teams
    • Previous practical experience in flight test planning and operations Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • BS/MS Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or MS Systems Engineering
      • Demonstrated success planning and building major test aircraft modifications
      • Previous practical experience in flight sciences, preferably in Flight Control Law development & evaluation, or in Stability & Control engineering
      • Previous practical flight test planning & execution experience on a 737 MAX, 777X or 787
      • Experience in cross-functional program integration
      • Demonstrated success safely leading technology portfolios while maturing technology readiness
      • Experience performing product-level safety evaluations Typical Education & Experience:

        Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

        Level 5: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Summary pay range:

        Level 4: $128,350 - $173,650

        Level 5: $157,250 - $212,750
