Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Senior Level
Mechanical System and Design Analysis Engineer to join our team in
Everett or Renton, WA. This Individual will work within the BCA,
Environmental Control Systems organization to develop, produce,
deliver and support customers who fly Boeing airplanes.
Sr. Engineers must support the development and documentation of
mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to
establish the system design. Encouraging high aircraft performance
while operating in compliance with regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc.)
requirements.
The position requires the Sr. Engineer to contribute and support
supplier maintenance, or modification of system, component, and
installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to
downstream groups development, test, and production activities and
directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program
goals. The Sr. Engineer will work under general direction while
training team members that support one of three sub-teams within
Environmental Controls Systems (ECS):

Primary Responsibilities:
Enabling high aircraft performance while operating in compliance
with regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc) requirements.
Modernizing (example: Fortran code) analytical models into modern
toolsets (example: Matlab/Simulink code).
Interfacing with intra-Boeing engineering teams, such as Flight
Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Stress,
Structures, Propulsion, and Aerodynamics.
Integrating and automating several federated ECS flow-analysis or
heat transfer models into a singular tool-set and Propulsion and
Aerodynamic models.
Leading Junior Engineers, fostering independent
problem-solving.
Maintaining a positive outlook that is focused on driving closure
and building positive relationships and work well with a diverse
team.
Systems Controls Support, including Dynamic Tuning, Lab & Flight
Test Support & Factory and Airplane Delivery Center Support, and
In-Service Issue Troubleshooting and Reliability Improvement
Projects.
Team management within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA),
Environmental Control Systems (ECS) organization to develop,
produce, deliver and support customers who fly Boeing
airplanes.
System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of
Fault Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
(FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs).
Building Airplane Support Manuals, such as Fault Isolation Manual
(FIM) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM).
The Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Engineering is an
organization of highly skilled women and men responsible for
defining and integrating airplane systems for airplane cabin
pressurization, air conditioning, ice and rain protection, fire
protection, and avionics cooling, also Ice & Rain Protection (ATA
Chapter 30) Bleed Air Supply (ATA Chapter 36) Air Conditioning (ATA
Chapter 21) Low-Pressure Analysis.
The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in
Everett, WA or Renton, WA.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements,
therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is
required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent
resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited
course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics,
physics or chemistry.
9+ years of engineering experience related to at least 3 of the
following topics: system controls, mechanical systems, systems
modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Exercising strong project management skills to independently
execute a variety of projects to completion.
Experience utilizing the Boeing Problem Solving Method (BPSM) to
investigate the root cause of problems faced both during
development and in-service by our customers who use our
products.
Ability to collaborate with other organizations such as
Aerodynamics Performance and Stability & Control, Structures,
Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots to plan and execute
developmental and certification testing and design/conduct flight
tests.
Experience in system controls, mechanical systems, systems
modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
Experience with model correlation from wind tunnel and/or flight
test data to analysis tools and hands-on wind tunnel testing
experience.

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical
education from an accredited course of study in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work
experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred,
although not required, accreditation standard.
In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this position will
be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials
from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is
required.
Salary :
$125,000 - $160,000
Relocation:
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
