Description:
At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities
in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through
outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our Youth Housing
program is looking for people to fill the important role of a
full-time Host Home Specialist. This role will recruit, support,
and retain Host Homes for the Connections Host Home program in
Snohomish County. Host Homes are volunteers in the community who
host youth for up to 21 days while they find a stable place to
stay. The Host Home Specialist will work closely with the Host Home
Coordinator, community partners, and Host Home volunteers to ensure
that youth in our communities find safe and stable housing.
Our Host Home Specialist...
Recruits, vets, and on-boards host homes in Snohomish County to
provide safe and stable housing for youth in need.
Supports 12 - 20 host homes with the ability to host at least 8
youth at any time.
Provides ongoing training and support for host homes.
Helps facilitate mediation, as needed, between host homes and
youth.
Has the ability and willingness to drive to various locations
within Snohomish County to meet with families to support youth and
families enrolled in the Program.
Presents to community groups about the Host Home program and how to
get involved as a host home
Is available for on-call emergency situations in Host Homes if they
arise.

Paid training & testing: CPR/first aid, food handler's permit,
blood borne pathogens, abuse awareness, TB testing, and additional
in-depth practical trainings
Pay Scale:
$48,000 - 53,000 DOE
Requirements:
General:
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to pass a DSHS background check
Acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations within
last 3 years
Posses a valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable
transportation
Proof of COVID vaccination(s)
Qualifications:
2+ years' experience working with at risk youth or families with
teenagers
Demonstrated experience working successfully with LGBTQ+ and youth
of color
Commitment to integrating youth voice
Understanding of Trauma Informed Care standards
Experience with mentoring and/or supporting families
Proven ability to problem solve, and facilitate tough
conversations
Supervisory experience a plus
Experience networking and cross-agency collaborating highly
desirable
Physical:
Communicate effectively with youth, staff, other programs, vendors
and the public, both orally and in writing.
Hear voice conversations and alarms.
Possess close vision, far vision, side vision, depth perception,
visual ability to read a variety of materials.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to reach, handle and operate
telephone, computer keyboard, record information in appropriate
youth files and logs.
Ability to drive to various locations within Snohomish County to
meet with and support participating families
