At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our organization is looking for people to fill the vital role of Anti-Exploitation Advocate for our THRIVE program. This position is responsible for engaging youth/young adults ages 12-24 who are currently experiencing labor or sex trafficking or are at high risk for experiencing exploitation. The THRIVE Advocate utilizes evidence-based practices including trauma-informed care, positive youth development, Motivational Interviewing, and harm reduction frameworks in the provision of supportive services. THRIVE services are completely voluntary for clients and advocates honor the agency of those they serve by meeting youth/young adults where they are at on their journeys. Case Management is youth-driven and focuses on improving youth well-being in the key areas of life skills, relationships, community connectedness, employment, physical and behavioral health, and education. Please note that this position is subject to mandatory reporting requirements under Washington state law. Our Anti-Exploitation Advocate... Demonstrates non-judgmental, compassionate presence with clients and be comfortable working with people engaged in a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural & spiritual practices.Provides ongoing case management services both on-site and in the community according to youth need and preferences, with a focus on rapport and trust-building; meet youth where needed, including on street outreach, in systems of care, and in other off-site locations.Conducts outreach throughout Snohomish County with the THRIVE team, focusing on youth/young adults that could be experiencing exploitation, including human trafficking as defined by the TVPA.Participates in ongoing training relevant to advocacy and stay up to date on news, legislation, and local enforcement trends relative to the fields of human trafficking and gender-based violence.Possesses knowledge of street culture, adolescent development, and strength-based approaches OR willing to go through training around these concepts upon hire.Provides coverage in the Safe Place phone rotation (a 24/7 crisis response line for youth in need of shelter); shifts are a week long and include answering the crisis line in addition to providing transportation for youth that screen in to shelter through Safe Place.Assists with training the community, new staff, and other organizations on how to respond to exploitation and related topics.Maintains familiarity with relevant services specific to gender-based violence and human trafficking, including access to legal advocacy and medical supportWhen necessary, meets youth's emergent needs, including food, transportation, survival items, and referrals to shelter/community resources Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision health options with 86% employer contribution403(b) retirement plan21 days of PTO accrued in first year10 agency-recognized holidaysPaid training & testing: CPR/first aid, food handler's permit, blood borne pathogens, abuse awareness, TB testing, and additional in-depth practical trainings from field expertsSchedule:Full-time - 40 hrs week - Mon-Fri *Regular scheduled hours may vary depending on client needsPay Scale: $22/hrCocoon House will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified persons with disabilities upon request.Candidates with lived experience, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ are strongly encouraged to apply!
