At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our Youth Family Engagement Team is looking for a Family Engagement Specialist to promote family engagement with a goal of reunification and/or preventing youth homelessness.   • Provide training and classes for the families referred to the Youth Engagement Team (YET) program and the YET staff.
  • Increase knowledge of staff and their ability to engage families and natural supports of youth and young adults with the goals of relationship strengthening, reunification, and preventing homelessness.
  • Ensure contract compliance for all activities.
  • Strong and effective communication skills; proficient in crisis intervention/de-escalation. What does a shift look like? Full-time
    • Collect and enter data by assigned deadlines. Analyze data reports to ensure efficacy of services.
    • Work with Youth Engagement Team Navigators to engage families/natural supports and strengthen relationships to support prevention of youth homelessness
    • Collaborate with other community-based groups to build referral network for families, as well as promote Cocoon House services. Benefits:

        • Must be 21 years of age or older
        • 2 years of experience working with parents and families of teens, with emphasis on at-risk teens.
        • DSHS background clearance
        • Acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations within last 3 years
        • Possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation
        • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination(s)
        • Possess knowledge of adolescent development and strengths-based approaches Highly Preferred:
          • Spanish-speaking/Bi-lingual Physical:
            • Ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external clients
            • Be able to hear voices and alarms.
            • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials
            • Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for files and logs
            • Ability to travel for various distances through urban or rural environments in various weather conditions
            • Must have ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.
