Primary Responsibilities

HDR currently has an opening for a Regulatory Specialist to join our Pacific Northwest team to serve in a regulatory lead role. Do you want to work with a collaborative, hard-working team dedicated to long-term clients and challenging projects? Come work with our growing and experienced team of hydropower and environmental professionals to support clients in hydropower licensing.

This position will be a key part of delivering HDR's regulatory and FERC licensing services for hydropower projects regionally and nationally. The successful candidate will be a responsible self-starter with the ability to complete tasks independently and interact as a key member of a diverse team of regulatory specialists, scientists, and engineers. The Regulatory Specialist will be able to support project management of small to mid-size environmental and regulatory projects and function as a regulatory subject matter expert or study lead on larger, complex projects. We are looking for a candidate that is team oriented, client focused, and flexible. This position will play a key role in coordinating all technical and regulatory components of the FERC licensing process for consistency with overall strategic direction and client needs.

Responsibilities:

* Project planning and scoping - support development of strategies and implementation plans from project inception through completion; coordinate teams and support budget management to effectively meet project scope.
* Project management support - maintain regular communication with subconsultants and team members regarding project/task scope, schedule, and budget management; provide team support to document project proposals, draft related environmental analysis, plan and draft environmental management/mitigation plans, and supporting or leading consultation with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders in complex permitting efforts. Support strategic and technical reviews of all project deliverables for consistency with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and project scope.
* Technical/regulatory writing and document development - create and provide review of technical documents in support of regulatory permits, environmental and regulatory document drafting; consistently apply and interpret regulatory requirements to meet permitting requirements (e.g., FERC license process documentation).
* Agency and stakeholder consultation - preparation for, and participation in, regulatory agency and public meetings/hearings (virtual or in person) as required by
