Hygienist / EHS Specialist develops and maintains Environmental,
Health & Safety programs, policies and procedures that insure
compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Programmatic responsibilities may include: bio-safety,
environmental health, hazardous materials, radiation safety,
employee safety and occupational health, training and hazardous
waste management.Responsibilities:--- Develops, implements, and
administers Environmental Health & Safety programs including but
not limited to: employee occupational health, respiratory
protection, formaldehyde exposure control, hazard communication,
first aid, personal protective equipment, radiation safety,
hazardous waste, and wastewater.--- Develops and administers
EH&S training programs that increase proficiency in safe
practices, and promote safety and environmental awareness
throughout the organization. Advises management team on compliance
with occupational safety and health regulations.--- Monitors
developments in the industry, EH&S community and regulatory
environment and keeps executive management informed on potential
impact to the company.--- Conducts occupational exposure and safety
assessments (including process safety analysis) reporting the
results and making recommendations for changes.--- Maintains
knowledge of, applies, and adheres to all federal, state & local
regulations as pertaining to EH&S in an animal research
facility and laboratory environment(s).--- May coordinate
companywide safety committee.--- May administer occupational health
programs for accident prevention, injury reporting, post-accident
follow-up and investigation, medical surveillance, respiratory
protection, hearing conservation, formaldehyde exposure,
lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, and others as required.---
May administer environmental programs for hazardous waste,
biomedical waste, wastewater monitoring, and pollution
prevention.--- Serves as a resource and support for EH&S
Program at Alice, TX facility.--- May track, investigates, and
follows up on workplace injuries and illnesses.--- May track status
and compliance with occupational health requirements for
employees.--- Recognizes, investigates, and recommends mitigation
of environmental and occupational health and safety hazards.---
Conducts or arranges for in-service occupational health and safety
training classes, and maintains training records required for
regulatory compliance.--- Conducts respirator fit tests and
training.--- May prepare and submit all applicable reports to
adhere to all federal, state and local reporting guidelines. Files
annual reports where required by regulatory agencies to include
Hazardous Chemical Waste, Community Right-to-Know, Pollution
Prevention Plan, wastewater reports, OSHA logs, etc.--- May serve
as primary contact for regulatory agencies including Department of
Ecology, Labor & Industries, City of Everett, Snohomish Health
District and Department of Health.--- Submits purchase order
requisitions for health & safety equipment, materials and
literature.--- May conduct facility inspections and restocks first
aid and other emergency kits as needed--- May conduct ergonomic
assessments and job hazard analyses in office, laboratory, and
animal husbandry environments.--- May perform sample collection for
formaldehyde monitoring, noise monitoring, and other exposure
monitoring as required.--- Maintains written and database records
with knowledge of computer software and web based data storage.---
Conducts other routine EH&S functions as needed.--- May serve
in an incident command role for fire drill, emergency evacuation,
etc.--- May manage workers compensation program.Qualifications:---
Bachelor's of Science degree in industrial hygiene, occupational
health and safety, public health, environmental health, radiation
safety and/or related science.--- 4+ years experience working in
Environmental / Occupational Health and Safety or related field.---
Prefer experience in a biomedical research/pre-clinical
environment.--- Holds certificate or meets eligibility requirements
for Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety
Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner,
Registered Sanitarian, or other related certification. Experience
in Radiation Safety. Requires valid Washington State Driver's
license for occasional use of company vehicles.--- Ability to
maintain compliance with all aspects of EHS state and Federal
regulations with minimal supervision and oversightAltasciences is
