Swedish is calling a Scheduler Medical Imaging (0.6 FTE, Variable Shift) in the Imaging Registration at Swedish Mill Creek in Everett, WA.
The Medical Imaging Scheduler provides a wide range of routine to moderately complex support tasks for medical imaging along with prioritizing multiple tasks during high volumes. These responsibilities include scheduling outpatient imaging services for CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Radiology. In addition, they schedule all imaging services that are generated through the emergency department. Scheduling requires an understanding of optimal patient flow, imaging procedures and knowledge of laboratory testing and patient history requirements for imaging procedures. Schedulers are required to obtain physician orders and insurance verification and/or pre-authorization prior to the completion of imaging procedures. They register patients, collect payments, prepare medical records, assist with billing, fulfill medical records request, and print electronic imaging files. Schedulers answer multiple phone lines; triage multiple situations with patients and physicians serve as the liaison for the imaging department. All duties accomplished with excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
In this position you will:

  Based on working knowledge of exams and patient preparation for same, schedule appointments for the following departments: CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Radiology.
  
  
• 
  Coordinate Imaging Services exams with other hospital departments, physician offices and prepares daily schedule for distribution.

  Coordinate interpreters for patients.
  
  
• 
  Follow up on patient orders and referrals to facilitate making the correct appointment.
  
  
• Keep abreast of changing exam protocols for each department.
  
  Required qualifications for this position include:
  
  • 
    
  • Associate's Degree -OR- equivalent from a two year college or technical school with emphasis in healthcare preferred, or six months to one year related experience and/or training in health care related field.
    
    Preferred qualifications for this position include:
    
    • 
      
    • 
      One (1) year related experience in a healthcare setting (i.e. physician's office, scheduler, etc.)
      
      
    • 
      Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations.
      
      
    • 
      Medical imaging experience.
      
      
    • Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course within six months from date of hire
      
      About the Mill Creek Campus.
      Swedish Mill Creek has 86,000 square feet of space on three aboveground levels and a partial basement. The E.D. - which is open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week - features 18 emergency exam rooms and six additional observation beds. It shares the first floor with a complete diagnostic imaging center with X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, which is staffed by partners from Seattle Radiology. A full laboratory and offices for primary- and specialty-care providers are on floors two and three.
