Description:
At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities
in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through
outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our Outreach program
is looking for people to join the team of Outreach Youth Counselors
who work directly with youth experiencing or at-risk of
homelessness at our drop-in center, U-Turn, in Everett. The purpose
of this position is to provide a safe and supportive environment
for youth, promoting positive interaction, providing life skills,
social skills, and enrichment activities with a focus on harm
reduction and increasing supports in their lives. This is done
through providing information for referrals, links to other
services, and crisis intervention.Our Outreach Youth

relationships to establish trust and supportRelate to both youth
and other staff across the agencyMaintain healthy and safe
boundaries with youthHave a familiarity with local services and how
to access themAccept a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and
cultural and spiritual practicesAssess emergency and dangerous
situations, gather pertinent information, and provide proper
support or emergency servicesFollow mandating reporting and
licensing policies and proceduresDe-escalate youth in crises and
utilize anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed
care in all of their workWhat does the job look like?Days
Full-time: 40 hrs/weekConduct stationary outreach with youth at the
U-Turn Drop-In Resource Center to ensure all youth are aware of
other Cocoon House services such as Advocates and Navigators for
case management servicesCollect and track accurate data on services
received throughout the shiftCook meals and clean facilities as
assigned for U-Turn needsSupport volunteers and community partners
as neededProvide coverage in a phone rotation for a 24/7 crisis
response line for youth in need of SafePlaceBenefits: Medical,

Requirements:
General:Must be 21 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or
GEDExperience working with at-risk youthDSHS background
clearanceAcceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2
violations within last 3 yearsPossess a valid driver's license,
insurance, and reliable transportationProof of COVID-19
vaccination(s)Physical: Ability to perform range of physical
motions, exerting up to 50 poundsLifting and carrying up to 50
poundsStanding, walking, sitting for long periods of time,
kneeling, squatting, and stoopingRunning for brief periods of
