Overview: This person will supervise and coordinate day-to-day tasks of the sawmill crew to convert logs into rough lumber. They will strive to produce the most lumber with the highest recovery available from every log. This person will work to ensure we are meeting OR goals and production goals while ensuring the safety of the team. This person must believe in working as a team and lead by example. Responsibilities: Responsible for the quality of products produced by the struct employees to adjust machine set-up or processing procedure to correct defectsImplements measures to improve production methodsInstill pride in the crew by establishing high standards for our products and methods we use to produce themKnowledge of maintenance requirements for a sawmill operation Work in cooperation with maintenance team to direct production preventative/predictive maintenanceCommunicate openly and effectively with the team, sending a consistent message.Support and encourage HCI initiatives to enhance sawmill performancePartner with the Plant Superintendent and Human Resource/Safety Manager with personnel concerns Manage PTO, absentee records and timesheets for all sawmill production/clean-up employeesKeep accurate records of production and analyze trendsEstablish standards for productivity at all stages of production and compare actual results.Hold a high standard for mill cleanliness and adjust schedule accordinglyFoster an environment that promotes trust, respect, engagement, and inclusion Qualifications: Minimum of 1-3 years of supervisor or lead responsibilities or demonstrated professional and technical expertise preferred but not requiredHave strong communication skills both verbal and written.Strong attention to details, good organizational skills, be a self-starter, ability to prioritize tasks and self-motivated.Strong computer skills, proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred but not required.Familiar with Optimization setup and operating performanceFamiliar with sawmill size control is preferred but not required More About Us: Learn more , or follow us on Facebook:@HamptonLumber.
