Specific vacancies may include both continuing and non-continuing contracts with the possibility of both full and part-time English Language Learner positions. Applicants should indicate preference for elementary, middle or high school.

Minimum Qualifications: ELL endorsement required.

Full time positions are 7.75 hours per day for 186 days. Persons interested and qualified should carefully follow the application procedures. Consideration will only be given to fully completed application files.

Salary listed is for the 2020-2021 school year.

JOB TITLE: ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING (ELL) TEACHER

JOB SUMMARY: Plan, prepare and deliver a quality instructional program based upon state standards, district curriculum, and effective instruction to students with English language learning needs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction using state standards, subject matter content and district curriculum. * Recognize individual student learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement and English language development. * Facilitate family involvement and engagement. * Implement effective teaching practices, including culturally responsive instruction for the purpose of facilitating English language development. * Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction, and improving student learning. * Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement. * Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success. * Maintain and submit information/records including student progress. * Participate in various meetings for the purpose of implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs. * Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct. * Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract. * Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

* Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment * Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices, including culturally responsive teaching, for English language development * Knowledge of and skills in using various formative and summative assessments. * Ability to effectively address a wide range of academic and social needs including at-risk, cultural diversity, English language learners, and special education students. * Skills in effective planning and implementation of lessons based upon state standards, district curriculum and student needs. * Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior. * Ability to effectively meet developmental needs of students. * Ability to work successfully with diverse learners providing access and opportunities for all students. * Skills and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with diverse people, including racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities. * Ability to demonstrate cultural competencies, and respect and value for all cultural heritages. * Ability to identify and address personal, cultural, and institutional bias. * Ability to collaborate effectively with others. * Skills in and ability to communicate effectively with others. * Skills and abilities in organization, time management, record keeping. * Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administrators. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. * Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.

EDUCATION:

* Valid Washington State certification with appropriate endorsement(s) * Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred. *

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Successful and recent experience as an ELL teacher preferred. * Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred. * Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds, preferred.
