Summary

AvtechTyee is seeking an energetic, inquisitive, and disciplined Manufacturing Engineering Intern for projects covering edgelit panel color testing spectrophotometer implementation. The candidate will interface with several critical functional groups within the business, including: Operations, Quality, and Facilities. The candidate will contribute to a team that works with aerospace manufacturing project execution, process improvement, and documentation. This is a project-based, process-focused role where the candidate will execute to plan, evaluate progress, brainstorm improvements and solutions, and deliver results. The candidate will rely on skills relating to engineering, manufacturing process improvement, interpersonal savvy, business acumen, and professional oral and written communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with Engineering and Production Supervisor to implement spectrophotometer in production testing processes Program spectrophotometer per production needs Create documentation detailing setup and operation of spectrophotometer Other duties as assigned

Desired Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in progress in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, currently enrolled in core engineering coursework Engineering plan development experience Or equivalent combination of education and experience

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Requirements

Must be a United States Person ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee

Project Description

As part of our continuous improvement efforts, Avtech Tyee is exploring new avenues to gain improved efficiency, quality, and scalability in our manufacturing operations through the use of imaging color spectrophotometry. Your role would be to work with the Audio and Airborne Electronics value stream Productuction Supervisors as well as our Engineering department to implement a new non-contact spectrophotometer for production testing purposes. As part of this implementation, you will be tasked with developing new process documentation (i.e. written and/or video work instructions) to be used in the setup and operation of the new processes, prior to the deployment of the technology on the manufacturing floor.

Project Deliverables:

Deployment of spectrophotometer testing process Process documentation including written and/or video work instructions Foster healthy working relationships with spectrophotometer supplier, Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Manager, and Engineers using effective communication skills Formal project report out and presentation to the leadership team

Intern will complete a confidential pre-internship survey describing goals and expectations and a confidential post-internship survey evaluating the program, the department, and the company as a whole. Human Resources will use this information to provide feedback and coaching to employees involved in the program and to drive improvements to the Internship Program overall.
