Summary

AvtechTyee is seeking an energetic, inquisitive, and disciplined Aerospace Structure Mechanical Engineering Intern for projects covering design and manufacturing of aerospace structural components. The candidate will interface with several critical functional groups within the business, including: operations, engineering, manufacture engineering, and purchasing. The candidate will contribute to a team that works within engineering and manufacturing engineering. This is a project-based, process-focused role where the candidate will perform analysis, work with excel, utilize CAD, and work on multiple manufacturing process projects The candidate will rely on skills relating to mechanical and manufacturing engineering, and professional oral and written communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working with excel to perform stress analysis and mechanical calculation Testing on mechanical tension / compression equipment with emphasis on failure analysis Creating test reports using word Designing and drafting using CATIA and SolidWorks Work in partnership with manufacturing to support operations (cold form, mill, turn, etc)

Desired Education and Experience

Enrolled in a mechanical / manufacturing engineering path Some work experience (non-engineering is acceptable)

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Requirements

Must be a United States Person ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee

Desired Skills:

Some Excel, Word, Power Point skills Strong focus and attention to detail Excellent problem solving and decision making skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision Ability to work effectively as part of a team Some CAD based skills To possess a good work ethic and be supportive of other team members Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. due to working with larger mechanical components

Project Description

*Note: Internship will take on some projects as listed below depending on ability and work load

Project Deliverables:

Support Engineering Request Changes Project - To make changes to mechanical drawings using CAD and drawing programs and release them within Oracle Agile database Support Engineering Test Load Database project: To populate a database with engineering information Support Engineering Qualification Testing for Metallic Rod Projects To aid engineers in test set up, take pictures, download test data, make test reports, and review test results. Support Engineering Qualification Testing for Carbon Fiber Rod Projects To aid engineers in test set up, take pictures, download test data, make test reports, and review test results. Support Work Metallic R To help start R documentation on multiple R project within both metallic and carbon fiber. To aid in the setup and construction of plans for new product research and development. Support Work Instruction creation To support creating a Rod & Strut design work instruction for both metallic and carbon fiber rod design. Other projects based on engineering needs

Intern will complete a confidential pre-internship survey describing goals and expectations and a confidential post-internship survey evaluating the program, the department, and the company as a whole. Human Resources will use this information to provide feedback and coaching to employees involved in the program and to drive improvements to the Internship Program overall.
