AvtechTyee is seeking an energetic, inquisitive, and disciplined Manufacturing Automation Intern for projects covering the automation of soldering processes within our Audio value stream. The candidate will interface with several critical functional groups within the business, including: Operations, Quality, and technology suppliers. The candidate will contribute to a team that works with a collaborative robot supplier to develop more efficient and repeatable soldering processes on the manufacturing line. This is a project-based, process-focused role where the candidate will be challenged to think outside the box to drive process improvement. The candidate will rely on skills relating to engineering, business operations management, lean manufacturing, and professional oral and written communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with Production Supervisor and Robotics supplier to implement cobot technology automating soldering processes Develop process documentation, such as written and/or video work instructions, prior to deployment to production Other duties as assigned

Desired Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in progress in Business Operations Management, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Or equivalent combination of education and experience

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Requirements

Must be a United States Person ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee or Refugee

Project Description

As part of our continuous improvement efforts, Avtech Tyee is exploring new avenues to gain improved efficiency, quality, and scalability in our manufacturing operations through the use of collaborative robots, also known as cobots. Our Audio value stream has been identified as the trial area. Your role would be to work with the Audio Production Supervisor and the cobot supplier to implement the cobot technology and create new process documentation (i.e. work instructions) to be used in the setup and operation of the new processes, prior to the deployment of the cobot technology. In addition, you will be challenged to identify additional processes that could benefit from similar technology.
Project Deliverables:

Deployment of Cobot soldering process Process documentation including written and/or video work instructions Foster healthy working relationships with cobot supplier, Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Manager using effective communication skills Learn and understand current processes and future process needs, become familiar with cobot technology Formal project report out and presentation to the leadership team

Intern will complete a confidential pre-internship survey describing goals and expectations and a confidential post-internship survey evaluating the program, the department, and the company as a whole. Human Resources will use this information to provide feedback and coaching to employees involved in the program and to drive improvements to the Internship Program overall.
