The Director of Campaigns and Major Gifts is responsible for
managing all processes related to capital campaign efforts at
Compass Health, and ensures that key fundraising activities,
processes, and deadlines are being met to hit campaign goals. In
addition, this person researches, plans, and executes the major
giving program at Compass Health. This position manages the
relationship with the Campaign Cabinet, and co-chairs the Compass
Health Board of Directors Development and Communications Committee
with the Chief Development and Communications Officer. This
position also oversees the functions of the Events and Grants
Associate to ensure that key annual fundraising relationships are
aligning with the major giving goals of the agency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the
following, other duties may be assigned
Develops and manages a portfolio of assigned individual major
gifts prospects with the ability to make significant gifts to
Compass Health of $50,000 and above.
Works collaboratively with the Chief Development and
Communications Officer, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Board
of Directors on major gifts when appropriate.
Makes at least 20 high-level contacts to potential or existing
donors/funders each month either through telephone calls, emails,
or personal visits. Understands the foundation of Moves Management
and works to appropriately move donors/funders along the donor
Strategically moves donors through all stages of the development
cycle, from identification and qualification to cultivation,
solicitation, and stewardship, with a special focus on qualifying
highly rated prospects.
Develops and implements a solicitation strategy for each
assigned major gifts prospect.
Prepares written proposals, informational materials, endowment
agreements, gift illustrations and any other materials needed to
secure major gifts.
Initiates and conducts personal meetings with major prospects
with the intention of establishing a relationship that will result
in a major gift to Compass Health.
Completes all reports on donor visits and enter them into
DonorPerfect prospect management system.
On the direction of the Chief Development and Communications
Officer and CEO, assume responsibility for seeking gifts for one or
more clinical/programmatic areas, and assigned geographical
Works closely with, CEO, CDCO, Campaign Cabinet, Board, as
Ensures that campaign goals and timelines are being met and that
strategies are frequently reviewed against those goals.
Reviews and manages any external contractor relationships that
may exist in the support of the campaign and/or major gifts
Supports Campaign Cabinet, sets strategy, prepares and conducts
follow up for group meetings, train and prepare volunteers for
Collaborates in the development and implementation of a
strategic plan to develop the department's long and short-term
Participates in implementing consistent donor-centric messaging
through various communication channels.
Manages the responsibilities and workflow of the Events and
Grants Associate, and works collaboratively to make sure that key
new relationships are stewarded and cultivated into major
Helps build and maintain an internal donor-focused culture of
Participates in regularly scheduled supervision and team
Remains compliant with required trainings and
Behaves in an ethical and professional manner consistent with
agency policy, state law, and licensing entities if applicable.
Understands and practices safekeeping of client protected health

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
BA Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or
related field required. MA Degree in a related field preferred.
CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) not required, but could
be substituted for MA Degree.
5+ years of direct fundraising experience required, preferably
with a focus on individual major giving.
Proven donor development and fundraising success moving donors
along the donor continuum.
Experience with donor management software (Donor Perfect,
Raisers Edge, Microsoft CRM, etc.).
Experience with electronic communication management software
such as Constant Contact.
Experience in project/event planning and management.
Management experience in a non-profit setting.
Valid Washington State Driver's License required including
vehicle and appropriate insurance.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Thorough understanding of the Moves Management process.
Demonstrated skills in successful grant writing for non-profit
Knowledge of community mental health and chemical dependency
Strong public speaking, networking, and analytical thinking
Willing and able to take on other tasks and assignments as
needed to ensure the fundraising goals of the agency are met.
Ability to work calmly, effectively, and prioritize assignments
in a fast-paced, high production, and high-pressure
Excellent customer relations skills, with the ability to relate
effectively and sensitively to a wide range of consumers and
Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to also work

General computer proficiency, including thorough knowledge of
Microsoft Office Programs including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be working in an administrative office
environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee
