They created some of the first community services for individuals with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities in the area.  Our mission is supporting people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices.  We help people decide how they want to live their life in the community and then provide the support services they need to act on those choices. We are one of the state’s largest private, multi-service agencies dedicated to meeting the needs of children and adults with all types of disabilities. We are a lifelong resource to individuals with disabilities and their families. Our services include:

Community-based residential services for adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury;

Competitive supported employment helping adults and high school students with disabilities find jobs in the community;

Clinical services including occupational/speech therapy and innovative assistive technology solutions for communication and mobility challenges

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

PROVAIL seeks an experienced Director of Human Resource to lead the development of a new generation of HR practices to increase the diversity, inclusion and engagement of the workforce of one of the state’s largest nonprofits supporting children and adults with disabilities. The Director of Human Resources is a new position reporting to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Management team, working with other Directors to ensure that PROVAIL’s workforce is positioned and supported to continue as the key to our success and sustainability.

The position oversees the activities of the Human Resources department (currently 2 FTE), which supports staff in our three service programs and administration across 28 locations in King & Snohomish Counties. We currently employ approximately 430 staff and have a budget of about $18 million. Our strategic plan calls for continued growth of our programs and we envision a workforce of over 500 within the next 18 months.

PROVAIL has taken recent steps to better assess our staff diversity & inclusion and improve our responsiveness to our employees of color. The new Director of HR will lead these efforts with support and collaboration from the Executive Team and the Board of Directors. The Director will also engage staff throughout the agency in these efforts, including the staff led Diversity & Inclusion Committee. The goal of making PROVAIL a welcoming and inclusive organization for all employees from all backgrounds may require the development of new HR roles with a specific focus on equity, identification of barriers and response to concerns. The Director will also design a manager training program aimed at building the cultural competency of our supervisors and recruiting more employees of color into leadership roles.

The Director will lead our efforts to increase the capacity and effectiveness of our HR practices. This will include modernizing our practices with a new HRIS system allowing us to better use data to drive recruiting, hiring, training and retention. It will also include the re-centralization of HR functions that have been dispersed to programs and better coordinate HR-related work in the programs.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience

5-7 years progressive experience in multi-site settings, including at least 3 years management experience

Proactive, team-oriented and collaborative leadership skills along with excellent communication skills required

Demonstrated strategic HR excellence, including leading/participating in change initiatives, and in-depth knowledge of employment laws and applicable regulations.

Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain effective, diverse teams.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

This is a full-time salaried position with a starting pay range from $82,000-$94,000 depending on experience and qualifications. PROVAIL offers an excellent benefits package including health care, 403(b) retirement plan, and generous paid time off allowances.
