Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Strategy Professional to join
Microsoft’s Experiences & Devices (ED) Strategy team. Experiences &
Devices (ED) is a product group within Microsoft creating trusted
and loved productivity experiences and devices for people at home,
work, and school. Some of Microsoft’s best-known products are
supported by ED: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Office, Windows, Outlook,
Teams, Edge, Surface, and others. In this era of rapid
technological change, the ED Strategy team plays a crucial role in
defining how ED will drive the next wave of growth. The team’s
charter includes Project-based quantitative and qualitative
decision support for high-priority strategic issues. An ongoing
focus on white space opportunity sizing, business model analysis,
new initiative ideation, and competitive analysis and game theory.
As a Director, ED Strategy, this role requires you to be
comfortable navigating a complex and dynamic environment, building
solid relationships with senior stakeholders, and driving impactful
work across a wide set of teams and disciplines. Microsoft’s

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance,
Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 6
years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking,
finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR
Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 4
years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking,
finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR
equivalent experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet
Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening
requirements are required for this role. These requirements include
but are not limited to the following specialized security
screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be
required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon
hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics,
Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 12 years
marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking,
finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR
Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 8
years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking,
finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR
equivalent experience. 4 years experience in Strategy, Management
Consulting, and/or Finance. A solid track record of driving
strategic insight, considering product, technology, marketing,
business model, and third-party/partner perspectives. Instincts for
portfolio management, sound business judgment, and proven framing
skills to support key trade-offs and decisions. Demonstrated
hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation with the ability to
leverage both quantitative and qualitative analyses for
decision-making. Proven ability to engage, influence, and manage
positive relationships with key stakeholders, including
SLT/Corporate Vice President communities across engineering,
marketing, finance, corporate strategy, business development, and
external commercial partners. Business Strategy IC5 - The typical
base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 -
$248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to
specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New
York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role
in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year. Microsoft
will accept applications for the role until June 27, 2025.
Responsibilities Product Strategy : Develop and frame product
strategies and investment-ready plans in collaboration with product
teams, business planning, marketing, and other disciplines.
Resource Alignment : Inform allocation of resources to align with
organizational goals, competitive pressures, and engineering
execution across the Experiences Devices organization. Market &
Competitive Analysis : Identify opportunities, threats, and
potential investments based on market trends, technology shifts,
and competitor activities. Idea Factory : Identify transformative
market shifts, forecast future trends, and develop actionable plans
to capitalize on emerging opportunities. Cross-Functional Project
Leadership : Lead key strategy projects, orchestrate workstreams
across ED and partners, and drive alignment between leaders and
product organizations. Partnerships : Identify and develop
opportunities for commercial partnerships. Strategy in the Era of
AI : Help define the operational model for a high-impact strategy
team, leveraging AI for maximum efficiency and impact. In addition
to these responsibilities, the Director ED Strategy will scale the
team’s impact by coaching and developing talent on the team to
create an inclusive high-performing organization. This role will
support a One Microsoft culture and influence horizontally across
the company by partnering with teams from ED, marketing, finance,
corporate strategy, business development, and other central
Microsoft teams.
