The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Customer Engineering organization is seeking a Mid-Career Technical Publications Development Specialist to join our Authoring & Publishing team based out of Everett, Washington.

This role is ideally suited for a candidate who is looking to gain a further understanding about airplanes, how they work, and how they are configured. The position requires creative thinking, technical acumen, and a customer-oriented mindset.

You will apply your skills to help develop the products we use to sell and configure airplanes. The right candidate is willing to learn new skills, expand knowledge, and adapt to technological and business changes.

Position Responsibilities:
Developing customer facing technical publications that define aircraft configuration.

Responsible for multiple publications including contractual documents (detail and configuration specifications) and selections catalogs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Interfacing frequently with counterparts throughout the Customer Engineering organization

Developing an understanding of the various features we offer on commercial airplanes.

Editing, writing and illustrating information to convey airplane selectable features to our customers.

Working closely with customer engineers who technically define feature offerings and translating that vision to something our customers grasp with ease.

Leading conversations about graphic design and technical formatting to communicate a world of information neatly to customers.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Everett, WA.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (FrameMaker, Illustrator and Photoshop)

5+ years of experience applying verbal and written communication skills including spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style, proof reading and editing skills

Experience with Technical Publications, aircraft systems or technical data

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of previous experience in publication and online writing techniques.

Experience writing and editing for technical publications.

Experience working directly with engineering teams on a product for both an internal and external audience.

Background in design and graphic principles for different publications and various digital media.

Familiar with industry-standard digital technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and publication for a different variety of platforms (desktop, laptop, and tablet)

Experience with project management principles to manage simultaneous projects.

Experience driving creative solutions.

Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.

Knowledge of Agile process.

Understanding of Chicago Manual of Style

Experience using an XML-based authoring system.

Self-starting, accountable, and able to work independently.

Strong time management and organization skills.

Ability to work across functional groups and organizations.

Ability to concurrently execute multiple deliverables and track to multiple deadlines.

Exceptional teaming skills in developing innovative ways to effectively meet customer needs.

Passion to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Interpersonal skills where teamwork and collaboration are of the utmost importance.

Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
