NIHSS Must-Have: Proficient in interpretation and management of
dysrhythmias Description: Position is for a Registered Nurse in the
Medical/Surgical Telemetry Float specialty. The shift is 3
consecutive nights from 19:00 to 07:30. Candidates must be
available for all scheduled shifts and cannot request scheduling
changes outside of approved time off. The patient-to-nurse ratio is
1:5-6. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend shifts are
required every other weekend. Candidates must possess
certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. A pass/fail
fill-in-the-blank tele test will be administered during
orientation. Floating within scope to meet facility needs is
expected. Candidates must have experience in telemetry units and
strong skills in interpreting dysrhythmias. This position will
require floating to all acute care units, including behavioral
health. Experience with orthopedic and neuro-stroke patients is
required. Skills in managing post-cardiac procedures and performing
pre/post-operative care for cardiac patients are necessary. The
facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching institution with a
diverse patient population. Preferred skills include experience
with peripheral nerve catheters, as there is a high volume of this
on certain floors. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent
time management skills during shifts. Following all policies and
procedures is imperative to ensure patient safety and care quality.
