Licensed Veterinary Technician - Center for Bird and Exotic
Animal Medicine (CBEAM) – Bothell, WA Signing Bonus Available Up to
$2500 (Depending on Experience) About the Role The Center for Bird
and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) is looking for a motivated
Veterinary Technician to add to our growing team of nineteen
veterinarians and about forty support staff! We are a 24/7
emergency and primary care veterinary hospital for exotics–we
provide compassionate and expert care for all species of
non-traditional pets located near Seattle, WA. This requires
specialized treatments, diagnostic protocols, state-of-the-art
equipment, and facilities designed for these species. Our doctors'
advanced training in exotic animal medicine make them uniquely
qualified to offer wellness, emergency, and critical care for avian
and exotic pets. Our hospital culture is very important to us and

professional development, continuing education, training and
mentorship. Compensation: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour Perks &
Professional Development: - Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs):
- $1,500 annual Continuing Education (CE) budget - 40 paid CE hours
to fulfill licensing requirements - Mentorship from our Lead LVT, a
Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), for those pursuing their
VTS - Veterinary Assistants (VAs): - Support for professional
growth through the Penn Foster program, with partial tuition
sponsorship (employment agreement required) - Additional Benefits
for All Positions: - Overnight shift differential: $1.25/hour Job
Description - Obtain and record patient histories. - Collect
specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests in
hematology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and
serology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health
problems. - Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, and
treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. - Administer fluids and
treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. - Administer and
monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian. - Provide
specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals. - Prepare
patients, instruments and equipment for surgery. - Assure that
monitoring and support equipment such as anesthetic machines,
cardiac monitors, scopes and breathing apparatus are in good
working condition. - Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical
procedures using a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment
including electrocardiographic, radiographic and ultrasonographic
equipment. - Take and process radiographs. - Communicate with and
educate owners. - Support intake and check out clients, as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of preventative healthcare recommendations in
order to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines and
medications, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which
their pet would benefit, such as CLAW Plans, senior wellness, spay
and neuter. - Educate clients on products and medications sold
including dietary products and answer questions regarding product
purchase/use. - Assist with inventory of pharmaceuticals, equipment
and supplies. - Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments,
equipment, and materials. - Knowledgeable regarding related federal
and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and
DEA. - Ensure that the hospital and its employees are in compliance
with regulations. - Inform the Veterinary Hospital Manager or
Hospital Administrator of any regulatory issues. - Work well with
all team members and ensure that your actions support the hospital,
the doctors, and the practice philosophy. - Perform other duties as
assigned. Experience: - WA State Veterinary Technician License
(Required) - Veterinary Technician experience: 1 year (Preferred) -
Exotic Veterinary Clinic experience: 1 year (Preferred) -
Experience working with AVIMARK (Preferred) Requirements: -
Washington State Veterinary Technician License (Required) - Ability
to reliably commute to location - Ability to traverse stairs and
stand for long periods of time - Ability to lift up to 40lbs -
Excellent oral and written communication skills - Legally
authorized to work in the United States - High School Diploma or
GED Shift Availability: - Night shift - Full-Time (32-40hrs/week) -
