function is responsible for working with the surgical team to
insure that quality care is given to the patient. Works with team
members in providing assistance to the Surgeon by being familiar
with the surgical procedure, instruments, supplies and equipment.
/n /n Primary Responsibilities: /n /n - Consistently exhibits
behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s

and concern with each and every internal and external customer /n -
Assists in the assessment, planning and implementation of care
given to the surgical patient /n - Demonstrates ability to use
supplies, equipment and instruments appropriately /n - Follows
strict principles of aseptic technique both in procedures and in
processing of equipment and instrumentation /n - Demonstrates
competence in assisting with surgical procedures /n - Demonstrates
knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures, regulatory
agency requirements, quality improvement process, facility and
departmental policies, procedures and protocols /n - Demonstrates
knowledge of Universal Precautions /n - Participates in the
identification and implementation of improvements in the delivery
of quality care /n - Responds expediently and courteously to
requests for help from patients and staff /n - Uses judgment in
seeking consultation from circulating Nurse and other unit Nursing
staff /n - Maintains composure and initiates emergency care as
appropriate according to ACLS guidelines /n - Works with team
members in the selection of supplies, instrumentation and equipment
needed for patient care /n - Uses, protects, and discloses Optum
patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance
with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
standards /n - Performs additional duties as assigned /n /n /n

Qualifications: /n /n - Current WA State Surgical Technologist
Registration (ST) /n - Current AHA/BLS Certification /n /n /n
Preferred Qualifications: /n /n - Graduate of an accredited school
of Surgical Technologists /n - Current ORT (Operating Room
Technician) certification /n - 2 years of experience as a surgical
technologist in an acute care setting or a busy multi-specialty ASC
/n /n /n The hourly range for this role is $27.00 to $37.00 per
hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors
including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work
experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with
