Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Consultant - $15,000 Sign on Bonus! Job Summary
The Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Consultant's primary job function is to provide Primary Care Behavioral Medicine services. The Behavioral Medicine Consultant makes recommendations to PCP's relative to psychological intervention strategies and conducts follow-up consultations to reinforce interventions. This position delivers a range of clinical services from consultative services, assessment, brief intervention, as well as long-term therapy for selected patients and populations. The Behavioral Medicine Consultant assists in the training of Pre-Doctoral Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows within the department by providing supervision, didactic trainings, and/or other training program duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Training.Job Specific Competencies
1. Provides primary care Behavioral Medicine services to CVCH patients.
a. Coordinates Behavioral Medicine treatment services and intervention strategies with referring providers at CVCH.
b. Coordinates services with outside referring providers for Medicaid and other patients.
c. Provides consultative visits and "warm hand-offs" with patients.
d. Provides assessment and brief therapy services, as well as long-term services for selected patients using a variety of evidenced based interventions.
e. Utilizes individual and group sessions as appropriate.
f. Provides care to capitated populations according to the contract and follows treatment guidelines.
g. May provide ongoing care to actively hospitalized patients in hospital settings.
2. Consults and educates PCPs and community partners as needs arise regarding psychological
a. May be informal conversation or more formal presentation.
b. Discussion/presentation at a provider meeting.
c. Document as appropriate when in regard to patient care.
d. Participate in agency meetings as indicated by supervisor.
e. Represent the agency in community and regional meetings as requested.
3. Documents clinical activity according to policies of the department and in compliance with applicable WA codes and standards.
a. Document in timely manner.
b. Minimal spelling errors and use of unacceptable abbreviations.
c. Factual and accurate according to visit and/or phone conversation.
d. Billing codes should be verified in the provided documentation.
4. Provides mentoring and training to pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows, medical student/residents, other student groups, as well as new BMed Consultants and Psychiatric providers.
a. Participates in clinical and group supervision with interns.
b. Provides documentation on all supervision.
c. Shadows students/new providers and allows them to shadow and provide timely feedback.
d. Assists with all levels of training within the department.
e. Participates in didactic training as scheduled and prepares topics they are scheduled to present on.
f. Maintains compliance with accreditation regulations for internship.
g. Provide timely evaluation of skill levels.
h. Available for consultation when necessary.
i. Fulfills role of Director of Internship Training as assigned.
5. Complies with Washington State MFT/Counselor/Psychologist Licensure Laws.
a. Maintains CE credits.
b. Stays current on research/interventions in the field, new treatments available, and management of patient issues.
c. Complies with ethics code.
6. Provides coaching to medical providers as assigned.
7. Performs ad hoc administrative duties and oversees daily operations of the department, e.g.,
Monitors and directs daily operations of the Behavioral Medicine Department, such as scheduling issues, answering patient questions and concerns, referrals, immediate support staff concerns and need for support, and others. Performs additional administrative duties as assigned, e.g., conducts mortality reviews; reviews and responds to patient complaints, processes disruptive patient pathway (DPP) reports, conducts the New Employee Orientation, and delivers staff trainings.General Duties and Responsibilities

Education: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology, or holding a master's degree in counseling psychology, clinical social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy will be considered if you have been independently clinically licensed for a minimum of five years.

2. Certification/Licensure: Have (or be eligible and willing to apply for) Psychologist licensure through the WA State Department of Health. If currently licensed in another state, must have been licensed as a psychologist for a minimum of two years prior to applying. OR Must be licensed as a LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT by the WA State DOH, having been licensed for a minimum of five years post-licensure.
3. Experience: Must be licensed for a minimum for two years as a psychologist without restrictions at the time of applying for the position; or a minimum of five years as a LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT. If not currently licensed in WA, must be willing to apply for licensure in WA. Prior experience supervising doctoral interns, postdoctoral residents, or other trainee providers is preferred but not required. Prior experience in integrated primary care and health psychology preferred but not required.4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to do multi-tasking. Knowledge of computer applications and equipment related to work utilizing required computer programs. Must have basic computer and keyboarding skills and have the ability to enter data within company's computer system; must demonstrate manual dexterity. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.5. Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other staff and management and with a wide range of consumers and constituencies and members of the public in a diverse community. Excellent skills at collaborating with providers and staff at all levels for both clinical issues as well as departmental issues. Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining productive work teams. Easily able to build rapport with patients. Comfortable providing therapy in Spanish or with a translator.6. Essential Physical Requirements: This job is performed mostly in a typical inside, office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential physical requirements of this job include: light physical effort; repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers; standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling; frequent sitting; lifting and/or moving items weighing 20- 50 pounds; ability to read forms and computer screens and to read correspondence and other documents.7. Essential Mental Abilities: Knowledge of the laws, regulations and ethics of professional discipline. Essential mental abilities include: knowledge, background and interest appropriate to providing sensitive, professional, direct support to patients medical and psychological issues; ability to exercise sound independent judgment; ability to analyze problems and develop situation appropriate responses to issues that arise; ability to make decisions in line with state and federal regulations; ability to read, comprehend, and analyze documents, regulations, and policies; ability to prepare and submit complete and succinct documents necessary to the job. Must have attention to detail, manipulate/interpret numbers, calculations, explaining processes to patients. Familiar with public managed care.8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Essential sensory requirements include the ability to: read computer keyboard, monitor, and documents; prepare and analyze documents; read extensively; see, recognize, and assess non-verbal behaviors of consumers as part of the intake process; hear, recognize, and assess verbal presentations of consumers; receive and convey detailed information orally, by telephone and in person; convey accurate and detailed instructions by speaking to others in person and by telephone. Ability to write and speak in a coherent manner.9. Exposure to Hazards: Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions on a frequent basis with moderate noise. Worker has contact with patients and other staff and may be exposed to medical conditions presented by them.Blood/Fluid Exposure Risk
