Description Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Cardiac
Electrophsiology Technologist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in
Cardiovascular Lab at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in
Everett, WA. The Electrophysiology Technologist prepares for and
assists the physician in the testing and/or treatment of patients
in the Electrophysiology Lab procedures. Performs as a monitor tech
and scrub tech; maintaining sterile technique. The EPT
performs/reviews baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient
response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers and medications
during Electrophysiology laboratory procedures, provides patient
care and administers drugs commonly used in the EP lab as directed
by a qualified physician. The EPT is proficient in basic cardiac
life support. The EPT is proficient in the operation and
maintenance, as specific by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and
therapeutic EP equipment used for procedures. In this position you
will:
- Correctly scrubs, monitors and circulates on the following
procedures
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterizations (OHC, BHC, RHC)
- Pacemaker/internal defibrillator/loop recorders
- Intra-aortic balloon
- Advanced four-wire electrophysiology studies, radiofrequency
and cryo ablation
- Manages emergency situations effectively
- Takes turn in providing coverage for cases which may run late
due to emergent cases and/or length of procedures.
- Interacts with patients and families and supports
Physicians
- Maintains radiation safety for patient and visitors
- Preps and drapes patients following aseptic techniques.
- Performs patient care in an environment that optimizes patient
safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care
errors
- Creates and maintains records and documentation
- Maintains accurate Op-report, CardioLab report and EPIC chart
documentation, ICD registry
- Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
- Effectively operates complex computerized physiological
equipment to monitor and record ECG's and intracardiac pressures
during a variety of cardiac procedures. Collects hemodynamic data,
oxygen saturations and cardiac outputs using Required
qualifications for this position include:
- Coursework/Training - Graduate of an accredited school of
cardiovascular or radiographic technology
- Washington State Department of Health Cardiovascular Invasive
Specialist Certification (CVIS) or Radiologic Technologist
Certification (ARRT
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or
Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS).
- Advanced Cardiac Live Support (ACLS) must obtain within 90 days
of hire
- Current BLS certification
- At least 6 months cardiac internship during education
- Prior EP experience in a technical capacity Preferred
qualifications for this position include:
- Completion of formal training from an AMA-approved
Cardiovascular Technology Program
- Two (2) years prior experience in a cardiovascular laboratory
