$7,500 Hiring Bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all

on your first day of employment. Providence is calling a Licensed
Practical Nurse (LPN) (0.9 FTE, Variabale Shift) to work for
Surgery Services at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in
Everett, WA. The Anesthesia LPN provides patient care using
available resources and approaches based on hospital policy,
procedure, and protocols. Patient care is provided to meet the
identified needs of patients whose protective reflexes and/or
self-care abilities are potentially compromised. Anesthesia LPN
possesses and applies knowledge of the procedure and the patient's
intraoperative experience throughout the patient's care continuum.
The Anesthesia LPN has the knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary
for carrying out selected aspects of patient care under the
direction and supervision of a RN. The Anesthesia LPN will take
call as scheduled. In this position you will:
- At the direction of an RN, administer and monitor PO
medications, IV medications, IV solutions, IM/SQ, Dial-a-flow,
IVAC, BARD Infu-OR pumps, call and obtain MD orders, call for lab
results, monitors patients and call RN and/or MD with changes in
patient status
- Participate in care planning and documentation, facilitatesor
provide transfer and/or movement of patients, independently or
assisted, assist patient in skin care, including turning patient to
prevent skin problems, and wound and ostomy care, perform insertion
and removal and care of Foley catheters and placement and care of
condom catheters, perform respiratory care by instructing and
assisting patients in proper use of incentive spirometry, oxygen
delivery devices, take/record patient's vital signs, blood
pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, intake
and output measures, transfer patients with chest tubes
- Maintain readiness of anesthesia machines, monitors, and
equipment, follows established protocols for collecting, cleaning,
disinfecting / sterilizing and handling of anesthesia equipment,
carts and supplies
- Assist anesthesiologist with procedures, apply knowledge of
body substance isolation procedures, universal precautions, and
biohazard material disposal, apply the National Patient Safety
Goals (NPSG) by assuring the Universal Protocol is followed prior
to Surgical or Invasive Procedures
- Assist anesthesiologist to prepare patient for surgery
including non-invasive and invasive monitoring, regional
anesthetics / analgesia, and intubation. Also, during surgery with
the care of the patient inluding warming, fluid resuscitation,
cardiac pacing / defibrillation, blood salvage, and emergency
procedures
- Obtain Activated Clotting Times (ACT), Blood glucose, and blood
gas analysis, prepares syringes and performs proper specimen
collection, operate and troubleshoot Hemacron, Blood Gas Analyzer,
and blood glucose equipment, perform quality control, recognize and
report abnormal lab values, anticipating critical interventions.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Current Washington State Licensure as a Licensed Practical
Nurse.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
certification. Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Nursing experience in an acute health care setting. About the
