Overview
The Design Research and Strategy Director is responsible for leading the Research team in defining broad, human-centered, future-focused research projects for our clients, as well as contributing hands-on work. The position demands experience and expertise in research methods, planning, and execution. The candidate should possess strong problem solving and collaborations skills, as well as be capable of framing problems to guide the team towards innovative and appropriate solutions to complex design challenges.

TEAGUE's research team does highly specialized work using diverse methods and tools: from highly technical human factors research and using full-scale environmental mockups to employing VR technology and taking ZeroG flights, this team needs a strategically oriented creative leader to support the integration of new and cutting-edge methodologies in our work.
Harnessing TEAGUE's creative talent and steering it to fully understand users' specific needs allows us to align our design process to solve our client's business challenges while exceeding their customer's expectations. That's where you come in. -

  • Talent for seeing the Big Picture: You can provide expert leadership to the research team to help clients develop technology, business and user experience insights, plans, and roadmaps.
  • Creative approach to methodology: You are eager to introduce new methods, processes, and approaches to elevate the effectiveness of human-centered research.
  • Research planning know-how: You aren't daunted by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves and digging into practical matters such as creating budgetary parameters, managing project milestones, handling project resourcing, and crafting deliverables.
  • Hands-on contribution: You also enjoy getting into the work, contributing to the incredible range of research efforts that Teague undertakes, from physical product development to strategic efforts.
  • Leadership skills: You to work effectively with clients as well as build, coach, and mentor diverse teams.

    What We Just Said, Now in 5 Bullet Points (a.k.a. Essential Qualifications):

    • Experience: 8+ years of related experience in a consulting and/or in-house environment; 3-5 years experience managing research team; expertise in human-centered research methods; proven track record of integrating research methods into a process to define opportunities and direct design exploration; exposure to business methods.
    • Training: Graduate degree in human factors, psychology, user experience research, social sciences or equivalent field.
    • Special skills: Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in a design setting; excellent written and verbal communication skills; passion for technology, business, and design. Nice to have: aviation, space and/or defense industry experience.
    • Role: Create opportunities for research to inform the design team's creative passion and influence design outcomes in order to exceed clients' expectations.
    • Personality: inspiring, collaborative, diplomatic, and visionary.

      TEAGUE is currently working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are a Washington State based company. All employees must reside in the state of Washington and be able to access one of our studio locations in the greater Seattle area when we return to work in our hybrid/remote work approach. - - - -
