Job Description:
Provide leadership, vision and strategy for division
manufacturing operations and maintenance to achieve and maintain
the highest standards of quality, customer satisfaction, delivery,
service and manufacturing capability at competitive costs. Direct
and coordinate activities by performing the following duties
personally or through subordinate supervisors.ScopeThis position is
a key member of the management team and operates with only general
direction and minimal supervision from the Divisional Plant
Manager. This position has full responsibility to make decisions
that impact goal achievement. This position is responsible for
ensuring a safe working environment, the production of quality
products, proper equipment / manpower utilization, and effective
employee relations. It requires a broad range of management
prerogative necessitated by a large number of operating
decisions.The position is accountable for maintaining and complying
with regulatory agency requirements including but not limited to
OSHA, ISO, AS9100, Boeing 5321, and other agency and customer
requirements.Essential Duties -Manages a manufacturing operation
that is designed to meet customer expectations, which could include
up to 7 days / 24 hours. Drives continuous improvement activities
in all areas. Supports a culture of teamwork, development, and
accountability. Implements and maintains the effectiveness of the
quality system in partnership with Quality Assurance. Prepares
operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to
ensure the quality and production of products to meet customer and
Vaupell specificationsAssures compliance to all procedures and
policies concerning safety, quality, regulatory and human
resources. Develops or revises standard operational and working
practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with
standardsDevelops the annual operations and maintenance budget as
part of the budgeting process. Reviews production and operating
reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance
problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Initiates and implements actions to maximize profits by containing
expenses through improving operating efficiencies and cost
reductionRecruits, trains, develops, rewards, and recognizes
personnel to achieve targeted strategies and goals. Creates the
appropriate organizational structure to reflect and achieve current
/ planned goals and objectives. Mentors direct staff. Supports
succession planning and employee development through performance
reviews, growth plans, cross training and projects.Ensures
performance, quality, cost, schedule, profit and customer
satisfaction targets are achieved with risks identified and
mitigated and opportunities exercised. Interacts with division
management to assess customer needs and assure accurate project or
program technical resources and direction for process and project
engineering. Focus on providing solutions to our customers.Actively
supports new product launches, production and engineering
improvementsAssures timely and accurate communication to and from
all levels of the organization. Establishes systems to enhance
intra and inter department communicationQualification
GuidelinesCandidates must be a "US Person" (i.e. US Citizen or
Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR
(International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export
Administration Regulations)RequirementsBachelor's degree (B.A. /
B.S.) in Engineering, Business, Operations, or Science and 6 - 10
years related experience and/or training preferred; equivalent
combination of education and experience is acceptableAble to read,
analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Expected to write reports, prepare business correspondence, and
develop procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
clients, customers, and the general publicUtilizes mathematical
concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Applies
concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situationsDefines problems, collects data, establishes
facts, and draws valid conclusions. Interprets an extensive variety
of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables
