Find your future with us.Enterprise Strategy & Operations (ES&O) is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager for the Enterprise Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) Management Excellence team. This team leads analysis of Boeing's RIO performance and has developed an approach to improve programs' ability to mitigate risks and capture opportunities. This leader will implement this RIO excellence approach at the enterprise level for engineering.The statement of work for this leader includes, but is not limited to:Critical review of the engineering enterprise risks before they are presented to the Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T) Chief Engineer and risk board. This includes meeting with the owners of the risks to correctly describe the root cause, the mitigation strategy, and how to show evidence that the risk is being mitigated.Support engineering function and new programs in setting up and running RIO excellence organizations. The team partners with the digital transformation team to integrate RIO management excellence into how we will manage Digital Enterprise and future programs.Act as RIO manager for all ES&O related Safety Risk Management (SRM) activities. The Boeing Safety Management System (SMS) requires an SRM for every significant process, organization or technology change.Primary Responsibilities:Manage engineers performing technical activities in the area of requirements management, development assurance, and functional integrationDevelop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reportsProvide guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processesCreate a culture of learning and continuous improvement by communicating/deploying/leading enterprise best practices, process improvement efforts and employee engagement activities to improve employee job satisfaction, customer satisfaction, safety, quality, delivery and cost of the team's deliverablesCoach, counsel, mentor and provide developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance teammate performance and expand capabilities of their teamsProvide on-going developmental feedbackPromote employee recognition and build a departmental culture that improves employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforceInteract frequently and forge strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships with internal and external management and senior-level representatives, stakeholders, peers, partners and teammates to execute work statement, reduce project risk, resolve challenges, improve processes and achieve goalsEstablish and implement integrated team plans (e.g. budgets, schedules, performance standards) to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person"-- - as defined by 22 C.F.R. -- - 120.15 is required. "US Person"-- - includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics10+ years of experience in an engineering related role3+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environmentExperience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiativesPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years' experience working development programsHave experience leading a RIO board at the team, IPT or program level.Have knowledge of Program Management Best Practices (PMBP).Have experience supporting a variety of programs across different business units.Experience building consensus, negotiating, and empowering teams to deliver results where process definition may not yet exist or is unclearRelocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.Drug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Shift:This position is for 1st shift.Vaccination Requirements:Boeing is implementing new requirements for employees to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 or have an approved reasonable accommodation based on local legislation in several countries.
