The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Wire Design Engineer in Everett, WA to support the new Sustainable Flight Demonstrator (SFD) Program.

This includes design definition of carry through/retrofit structure and modifications to the donor MD-90 aircraft, coordination with other functional IPTs (Systems, Airframe, Propulsion, etc.) to integrate the wiring/electrical systems at the Airplane level, as well as coordination and collaboration with our Mods team for the electrical modification required to complete the SFD air vehicle.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced, Senior, or Subject Matter Expert Wire Design Engineers.

Our greatest current need involves developing, integrating and maintaining critical electrical cable/wire harness detail, assembly and installation designs. This includes integrating the functional system requirements into an efficient logical and physical wire harness architecture throughout the airplane. You must consider such requirements as proper materials and parts selection based on electrical and environmental properties, functional separation based on systems safety and failure analysis, and efficient build processes, all while ensuring that Safety and Quality are the number 1 priority.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain electrical wire harness detail, assembly and installation designs for the SFD program.
  • Develop and analyze engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests and shop revision requests). This often involves working closely and collaborating with our partners on the factory floor to ensure our designs can be built efficiently and safely.
  • Follow and look for improvements to documented processes, specifications and procedures that support safe and quality design and manufacture of electrical commodities
  • Develop basic statements of work
  • Participate in technical reviews of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection. Analyze functional and physical requirements to assure the development of integrated designs and system architecture
  • Actively supporting critical analysis and design reviews
  • Work with and under general supervision of a lead engineer and an expert mentor to enhance both your technical learning and career growth This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
    • 3+ years of experience with wire harness, electrical and/or mechanical design Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • 3+ years of experience using wire design tools such as WIRS, MAPPER, CADDS and/or Capital Logic Typical Education/Experience:
        Experienced (Level 3):

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Senior (Level 4):

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Subject Matter Expert (Level 5):

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Relocation:

        Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

        Summary pay range for experienced: $104,550 - $141,450

        Summary pay range for senior: $128,350 - $173,650

        Summary pay range for subject matter expert: $157,250 - $212,750
