For Victorian based employees, the compliance date is 26 November 2021.All other global Boeing locations do not have a vaccination requirement at this time.The Boeing Airplane In-Service Safety Engineering team is seeking Senior Airplane Safety Engineers to join our team in Everett, Washington.Airplane Safety Engineering (ASE) is responsible for overseeing review of in-service fleet issues along with airplane level design safety activities for new Boeing commercial airplanes. Using risk assessments, sophisticated analysis methods, data analytics, in-service lessons learned, and a strong understanding of airplane level functional and logical architectures, ASE works with wider design organizations like Airplane Systems, Propulsion, Reliability and Maintainability, Interiors, and Structures to ensure product safety at the airplane level.These positions involve placement of successful candidates on the In-Service Safety Team, supporting all in production airplanes, including 787, 777, 767, 747, and 737.These positions offer the potential to broaden skills and experience across multiple engineering disciplines such as airplane propulsion systems, passenger interior architectures, airframe structures and airplane flight systems. Come along for a breathtaking flight!The successful candidate will have:Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively with a diverse engineering teamIntrinsic aptitude for taking initiative, leading cross functional teams and complex projectsAbility and willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely mannerDemonstrated reliability, trustworthiness, and accountability for completing assigned workOpen-mindset and comfortable working in a dynamic teaming environment while being a champion for product safety initiatives, objectives and milestonesWillingness to consider and investigate alternate proposals in support of a "never fail"-- - spiritPrimary Responsibilities:Analyzing aircraft accident, incident, and event data to determine potential unsafe conditions and coordinate analysis, safety review board presentations and corrective action through the functional design organizations and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)Coordinating safety issue discussions and regulatory action correspondence such as Service Bulletin, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM)/Airworthiness Directive (AD) action with the FAACoordinating with Boeing Service Related Problem (SRP) teams in developing corrective action compliance timesUtilizing the Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM) for investigation of safety issues to determine systemic root causes and develop lessons learned artifacts for future programs/projects. Communicate risks to BPSM completion and escalate help needed to leadershipProviding guidance to root-cause investigation team regarding the Safety Lessons Learned process per BPI-4002 (Defining and Applying Airplane Safety Lessons Learned) and the Corrective/Preventative Action process per BPI-4024 (Perform Corrective Action and Preventive Action)Providing Continued Operational Safety (COS) and BPSM expertise to program and functional stakeholders and leadershipThe position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person"-- - as defined by 22 C.F.R. -- - 120.15 is required. "US Person"-- - includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistryPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Pilots licenseExperience with per BPI-4002 (Defining and Applying Airplane Safety Lessons Learned) and the Corrective/Preventative Action process per BPI-4024 (Perform Corrective Action and Preventive Action)Experience with Continued Operational Safety reporting processes3+ years of experience in a role that required project management skills3+ years of experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) tools and the Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM)3+ years of experience working with FAA and with the Boeing Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) processes3+ years of experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design or analysis (e.g. Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, Fuels, etc.) or Systems Integration5+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements and proceduresTypical Education & Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience ).
