At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. We are currently seeking an Accounting Associate to join our team in Everett, WA as an essential team member in achieving this mission. Our Accounting Associate will perform a wide variety of financial activities related to the accurate processing of payment for approved invoice/contract payments; processing of cash receipts; recording, updated and reconciling fiscal information; and providing instructions and/or accounting support to other personnel in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Essential Functions Accounts Payable: - Assemble, review and verify vendor invoices for accuracy and approval - Review weekly employee reimbursements and check requests for accuracy and approval - Code vendor invoices and employee reimbursements for timely payment - Enter payables data in Abila Sage MIP system - Process checks and electronic payments, including signature follow up and mailing. - Perform various account reconciliations and work to resolve any discrepancies - Respond to vendor inquiries - Copy and timely filing of receipts for grant billing. - Maintain accurate vendor files. Accounts Receivable / Cash Receipts: - Process incoming funds (cash, checks and credit cards) and apply to proper accounts - Prepare bank deposit - Research and resolve payment discrepancies - Reconcile customer accounts - Maintain cash receipts files and records - Reconcile cash receipt transactions with DCR transaction log Other Duties: - Process petty cash and gift cards - Maintain gift card inventory - Maintain confidentiality of organization information - Assist in processing Payroll bi-weekly. - Assist with month end closing - Assist in annual audit preparation. Qualifications

• One to three years' experience in Accounts Payable or other accounting roles
• Two-year Accounting-related degree preferred
• Strong desire to make a difference in our community.
• Naturally curious and inquisitive and ready to pick up the phone to get something done.
• See challenges encountered as puzzles to be solved.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Computer skills required with proficiency in MS Office suite to include Excel, Word and Outlook. Benefits:

    • Must have the ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.
